DSM Fresh Foods Limited, operating under the Zappfresh brand, has signed an MoU with Gohpur Fish Farmer Producer Company Limited to develop the Assam Aqua Project, a freshwater aquaculture initiative in Assam’s Biswanath district.
The project will be developed across approximately 100 acres in Gohpur and is targeted to produce around 300 tonnes of freshwater fish annually. The collaboration aims to establish an integrated aquaculture ecosystem covering fish farming, feed and water management, harvesting, processing, cold storage, and distribution infrastructure.
The initiative marks Zappfresh’s second aquaculture partnership and is expected to strengthen its seafood sourcing network while supporting a more organized and sustainable fish supply chain. The project is also expected to create employment opportunities in farming, processing, and logistics, enhance farmer incomes, and promote community participation through local fish farmers and women-led Self-Help Groups.
Through this partnership, Zappfresh aims to improve productivity, quality standards, and market access while expanding its presence in India's growing aquaculture sector.
